Neurotoxin: Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®
Offered at our Scranton office, 5 Morgan Highway, Suite 3, Scranton, PA 18508.
What to Expect
-
A consultation first
We discuss your concerns and review your options.
-
A short appointment
The injections themselves take about ten to fifteen minutes. Most people describe a quick pinch. You can drive yourself home and go back to work the same day.
-
Results over two weeks
Softening begins in about three to seven days, with full effect at about two weeks. Treating before a wedding or reunion? Book at least three weeks out, so there is room for full effect and for any small bruise to clear.
-
A follow-up at two weeks
Your follow-up is booked before you leave. At two weeks your provider sees the full result and adds more only if you ask for it. If you are happy as you are, send us a text and skip it.
How Neurotoxin Works
Neurotoxin softens the lines that come from expression, the frown lines between the brows, the rows across the forehead, the crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes, by relaxing the small muscles that crease the skin.
At Northeast Aesthetics we use Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®, and Dysport® is the one our providers use most. Every treatment is planned and performed by a board-certified physician or physician assistant at our Scranton office, and every treatment starts with a consultation.
Expression lines form where the same muscles fold the same skin thousands of times a day. A small, precisely placed dose of neurotoxin relaxes that movement, so the skin stops creasing and the line softens. Your face still moves; the goal is a rested look, not a frozen one.
Neurotoxin works on dynamic lines, the ones that appear when you move. A line that stays when your face is fully relaxed is a static line, and neurotoxin alone will not erase it. If that is what is bothering you, your provider will say so at your consultation and talk through what would actually help.
Good to Know
- Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are prescription medicines, administered here only by board-certified physicians and physician assistants.
- Botox® Cosmetic is approved in adults for the improvement of moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet; Dysport® and Xeomin® are approved in adults for moderate to severe frown lines.
- Neurotoxin does not add volume and does not treat static lines; that is work for dermal filler or skin treatments, and your provider will tell you which applies.
- A small bruise at an injection site is possible; plan two to three weeks ahead of big events.
- It is a maintenance treatment; results are temporary, typically about three to four months.
Injectable Safety & Product Authenticity
Every injectable we use is a prescription medicine, obtained only through authorized U.S. sources.
Injections are performed only by board-certified physicians and physician assistants. You can meet the team, and you can verify any Pennsylvania provider’s license through the state’s Pennsylvania Licensing System. More in our guide to verifying an injectable provider.
Mild swelling, tenderness, or a small bruise at the injection site is normal for a few days. For questions about how you are healing, call or text the office at 570-507-1451. For symptoms that need prompt attention, such as changes in vision or trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing, seek medical care right away.
Neurotoxin: common questions
Will I look frozen or overdone?
Not when it is dosed and placed conservatively, and that is the point of a provider-led consultation. After your appointment, we schedule a two-week follow-up where we review your results and determine if additional neurotoxin is needed. The outcome we work toward is that you look rested and like yourself.
Does it hurt?
Most patients describe a quick pinch, over in seconds per site. The whole appointment usually takes under fifteen minutes and no numbing is generally needed.
How soon before an event should I book?
About three weeks out. Full effect takes about two weeks, and the buffer leaves time for any small bruise to fade and for a touch-up if your provider recommends one.
What is the difference between Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®?
They are three brands in the same category of medicine and behave similarly. Dysport® is the one we use most, but your provider will recommend one based on your face, your goals, and your history with any of them.
